Week 9 of the NFL season is here, and we get an 11-game SuperDraft DFS main slate Sunday. Let’s dive in and see who the best plays are for every position.
Top Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (1.25x score multiplier)
I’m running it back once again with Hurts as he faces the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9. The Chargers defense does not typically give up many points to the quarterback position (averaging 16.8 points allowed), but Hurts’ mobility brings upside in what should be a high-scoring game. Coming off a low passing game with just 103 passing yards, as the Eagles used a run-heavy approach to rout the Lions, Hurts rushed for 71 yards, and Chargers slack in that area on defense. If both the passing and run game is there for Hurts, his upside is big for this Sunday.
Jordan Love. Green Bay Packers (1.85x)
What a wild week it has been for Green Bay Packer fans, but what a better weekend than this Sunday for Jordan Love to start. He gets to face a struggling Kansas City Chiefs team that is currently giving up the second-most points to the quarterback position. While we don’t know what Love can do with this offense, Davante Adams will be returning, and that is a huge piece to his success this Sunday. A lot of ownership will most likely fall on Love, but that’s chalk I’m willing to eat.
Top Running backs
Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers (1.05x)
Sticking with the Packers, Jones will also be in a position for success but at the bare minimum multiplier. The gamescript could be run-heavy to keep Love comfortable starting out. While AJ Dillon will be used more in the passing game, Jones is heavily relied on rushing /inside the 5 with a 70% market share and red-zone targets.
Devontae Booker, New York Giants (1.5x)
Booker gets the starting nod once again with Saquon Barkley ruled out, and he has a nice 1.5x multiplier. He gets to face the Las Vegas Raiders, who are giving up 21.9 fantasy points per game to the position. Booker also led the Giants backfield in Week 8 with 15 rushing attempts, two red-zone attempts and 6 targets. With all plays on the ground going for Booker and against a weak Las Vegas Raiders defense, I want to load up on him.
Top Wide Receivers
Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals (1.15x)
The young rookie is having one hell of a year already, so why not run it back with him again? Chase gets to face the Cleveland Browns after a surprisingly down week against the Jets. While he doesn’t have the greatest matchup overall, it is maybe the best matchup on this Bengals team. Chase has led this team in targets six of the eight weeks but when it comes to red zone targets, Joe Burrow is mainly looking his way — Chase has the team lead in red-zone targets with 16 (second is 10) and end-zone targets with 8 (second is 5). He is coming off his lowest receiving total of the season, but I fully expect him to bounce back.
Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers (1.5x)
I can finally feel comfortable making one of my early-season plays a top play. While Aiyuk has spent the early part of the season in the doghouse, reportedly the bye week “talk” with Kyle Shanahan finally ignited a fire inside of him. Coming off his best game yet this season with 45 receiving yards on 4 catches (7 targets), Aiyuk could be in store for another bump. Deebo Samuel is battling a calf injury, and facing the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday, Jimmy G will need all the help he can to make this game winnable.
Top Tight Ends
Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (1.65x)
The Schultz play will be riding a lot on the CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper injury news — if either is out, give me all the Schultz. With a consistent season so far, Schultz is being heavily targeted, and the volume will only increase, which will be needed against this Broncos defense. Denver is currently allowing an average of just 5.8 points per game to the tight end position, but this Cowboys offense has shown it can be very explosive.
Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals (1.7x)
There are a lot of questionable players around this Arizona offense, and Ertz is not one of them. He has quickly shown that he can contribute to a high-powered offense — in his first game with the team, he recorded 14.5 fantasy points. He came back to earth a bit in Week 8 with just 42 yards on 4 receptions. Given the health issues around the rest of this offense, I’m OK risking it this weekend with Zach Ertz.
