Here are three players that will jump you to the top of the leaderboards on day one of the MLB season!
Tyler Glasnow (TB) 1.6X – SP – Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays
This is a big year for the young right-hander who boasted a 5-1 record last year in the shortened season with a 4.08 ERA. I love this pick at 1.6X because of the stuff this guy possesses! He sits at 96-100 mph with the fastball with an absolute hook of a breaking ball. Last year his K/9 (strikeouts per nine innings) was 14.3, insane upside and electric stuff going up against the cellar dwellers of the NL in the Miami Marlins.
DJ LeMahieu (NYY) 1.3X – 2B – Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees
DJ is an incredible value for 1.3X! This guy led the AL in many hitting statistics last year and for that he was awarded the Silver Slugger for second basemen. He hit .364 last year and had an on base percentage of .421, big numbers and a great of a season. With the Yanks playing at home many people will pick the big guys in there lineup looking for homers, personally I would rather pick that guy that is going to be on base a majority of the time and getting hits all night rather than one homer and 3 strikeouts.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD) 1.25X – SS – Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres
How can you not be excited about this guy! He burst on the scene last year and lands on the cover of a video game this year. The hype is real with Tatis, and I think he is due for a breaking out party on Opening Day. At 1.25X, I think this is a good evaluation and worth the lower multiplier for the things this kid can do on the field. In a small sample size last year, Tatis hit .277, 17 homers, and 45 RBIs. Be sure that he is a staple in your lineup for game one and all year round!
