Will the Rockies be the top sluggers in the MLB tonight?

After a huge night of offense last night, let’s see if we can find another hot offensive team to ride with. There are a lot of high multiplier pitching options tonight, we’ll walk through who we see value in, and which guys can get a win and propel us to winning line-ups.

Pitchers

Tyler Anderson (1.9x) – SP – PIT vs ARI –

Tyler Anderson has quietly had a solid season, despite pitching for one of the worst teams in the league. His ERA of 4.35, and 1.19 WHIP are good for the top 50 in the MLB, which is good for a 2 or 3 pitcher on a rotation. The Pirates find one of the only teams worse than them tonight, the Arizona Diamondbacks. As a result, Anderson has high win equity and if the Pirates can provide run support he’ll look to improve his record to 6-8.

It’s worth noting Anderson has been red hot this month of July. In his two starts, he’s gone 12 innings, with 9 hits, and only 2 earned runs. He doesn’t have great swing and miss stuff, but against the Diamondbacks, he could easily get into the high single figures and look to break his 7 strikeout season-high he’s reached 4 times.

Trevor Rogers (1.95x) – SP – MIA at WSN –

Trevor Rogers has given Miami something to be excited about this season. His 2.31 record is good for 7th in the MLB. He has 122 strikeouts and a 1.07 WHIP, good for T-21st and 20th in the MLB respectively. Despite these numbers, his 7-6 record is the result of a struggling offense. At 23 years old, look for Rogers to finish this year strong, starting tonight in a bounce-back game against the Nationals.

Rogers’ whiff rate of 30.7% is well above the slate average of 24.7% and his average fastball speed of 94.8 mph is over a full 3 mph faster than the slate average. The game currently has an even line, so look for Rogers and the Marlins to get the win and propel Rogers to a dominant performance tonight.

Hitters

Colorado Rockies Stacks (Garrett Hampson 1.6x, Raimel Tapia 1.6x, Brendan Rodgers 1.85x, C.J. Kron 1.25x) vs Seattle Mariners –

The Rockies get a favorable pitching match-up tonight in their hitting-friendly ballpark, Marco Gonzales for Seattle has struggled this season. His 18.8% whiff rate demonstrates his difficulty striking players out and getting swings and misses. His walk rate this season is 9%, up from his 2-year rate of 5.5%, further demonstrating his season struggles. He has a 1-5 record and only 49 strikeouts this season, all setting up the Rockies for success.

Look for the Rockies to take advantage of these struggles tonight. The total run projection from Vegas is 10.5 runs right now, with the Rockies as heavy favorites they expect to be a majority of this production. These Rockies hitters have had solid seasons, and with a matchup like this, look for them to take advantage.

Fades

Atlanta Braves Stacks (Ozzie Albies 1.1x, Guillermo Heredia 1.8x, Orlando Arcia 1.7x) vs San Diego Padres –

The Braves have a tough match-up tonight against veteran Yu Darvish. Darvish has had a strong season, and there’s no reason to take any of the Braves hitters tonight in this situation. Darvish has a 28.5% whiff rate, reasonably above the 24.5% slate average. He also has a 4.3% walk rate, demonstrating his strong control compared to the slate average of 8.6%. The Braves hitters have been struggling as of late, and as a result, look to other offenses to carry your line-ups to a win tonight.

Projections

In this Tuesday night slate, look for Tyler Anderson of the Pittsburg Pirates to take advantage of an even worse team in the Diamondbacks. Look for 23-year-old Trevor Rogers to lead the Marlins to a bounceback win over the Nationals. Finally, take your chances on the Colorado Rockies offense against a struggling Marco Gonzales in the altitude at Coors Field tonight.
