NFL’s Wild Card weekend is almost finished. We had a nice three-game DFS slate to break down Sunday on SuperDraft. Now it’s time to recap our top plays to see who succeeded and who didn’t.

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (1x score multiplier)

The best quarterback of Sunday’s action was Patrick Mahomes, and it wasn’t even close. The man was by far the best play of the slate as he dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers. Completing 30 of his 39 passing attempts, Mahomes threw for 404 yards and five touchdowns. He did have one interception in the first quarter, but that was quickly erased with the performance he put on for the rest of the night.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (1.2x)

What a wild ride the Dallas Cowboys game was. After a slow first half, Prescott and the Cowboys attempted a comeback but came up shot on the final drive. Overall though, Prescott was not on target for fantasy, completing only 23 of his 43 attempts for 254 yards and one touchdown against one interception. He did add some rushing production, running for 27 yards and a score.

Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys (1.05x)

The Dallas backfield didn’t do what I expected. They were stopped the majority of the game by the San Francisco 49ers defense. Elliott averaged just 2.6 yards per carry, finishing with 31 total rushing yards on 12 carries. He did have four targets but only reeled one, and that went nowhere.

Darrel Williams, Kansas City Chiefs (1.2x)

This one stung as Williams had very little action Sunday night. Williams had one carry for four yards but also had a costly fumble. That fumble and the running of Jerick McKinnon had Williams sidelined for the rest of the game.

Wide Receivers

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers (1x)

As long as Samuel is on the slate, lock him in. He was the force behind the San Francisco 49ers win. To start off, he dominated once again in the run game, as he rushed for 72 yards with one impressive run for a touchdown. That came after the costly Dak Prescott interception. On the receiving side, he didn’t find the end zone, but he caught all three of his targets for another 38 yards.

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles (1.5x)

The Eagles were dominated in Sunday’s early game. They weren’t able to score until the fourth quarter when they were already down 31-0. Smith struggled alongside the rest of the offense. He had 11 targets on the day but only caught four for 60 receiving yards, adding a two-point conversion late in the fourth. Nothing in the offense worked as Jalen Hurts couldn’t get anything going besides leading the backfield in rushing yards.

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs (1x)

The Kelce call was almost too easy. The Chiefs tight end dominated, putting up 108 receiving yards on five receptions (seven targets). Not only did he add on a receiving touchdown, but the big man also added on a passing touchdown on a direct snap, finding Byron Pringle for the touchdown.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (1.65x)

Freiermuth was a decent risk but didn’t pay off in the Steelers’ blowout loss to the Chiefs. He was targeted five times throughout the game and caught four of those targets but finished with just 25 yards. No one on the Steelers’ offense was a pretty play — not even Diontae Johnson, who did find the end zone.

Top Plays

The best plays were some of the obvious ones in front of us. Two of the top players were in our article, as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their ways with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans had his way with the Philadelphia Eagles, with nine receptions on 10 targets. He had 117 receiving yards with one touchdown, averaging 13 yards per catch. You can add in the low-rostered play of Giovani Bernard, who was activated for the game. He had 44 rushing yards with one touchdown and also added on five receptions for 39 receiving yards. Bernard looked good in his first game back but also provides the Buccaneers with more time to give Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones to rest.
