Tuesday’s NBA slate featured some great basketball from both a DFS standpoint and a fan standpoint, as we had a potential Western Conference Finals preview with the Warriors and Grizzlies. With only one game finishing with a final score margin larger than eight points, there were a lot of productive DFS outings.
Below is a recap of how Tuesday’s recommended plays played out on SuperDraft.
The Plays
Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns (1.25x)
With a usage rate over 31% this season, Booker has seemingly improved with the ball in his hands despite averaging incrementally fewer points per game, as evident by his 7% jump in three-point percentage. Against the Raptors Tuesday, Booker struggled from the field, shooting only 4-of-13 en route to 16 points, five rebounds and a trio of assists. Given the lack of ceiling games on the slate, Booker didn’t necessarily sink your lineups, but he certainly didn’t help them either.
D’Angelo Russell, Minnesota Timberwolves (1.3x)
In a game that totaled over 250 points, Russell was a big part of the reason why the Timberwolves were able to hang around for four quarters. While his scoring output (18 points) wasn’t exactly what we had hoped, his addition of 10 assists and the double-double bonus with his 1.3x multiplier did enough to help managers who rostered him Tuesday.
Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors (1.2x)
The Raptors were able to cover the 4-point Vegas spread, losing to the Suns 99-95. Much of the reason that they were able to hang around with the reigning champion of the Western Conference was Siakam. Through his 22-point, seven-rebound, seven-assist outing, Siakam did everything he could to help both his own team and fantasy managers who rostered him.
DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls (1.25x)
The one game on the slate that ended up as an absolute rout was the Bulls 133-87 win over the Pistons. While the blowout likely hindered the ceiling of DeRozan, he still managed to produce an effective 20/12/7 stat line in only 27 minutes while shooting 8-of-13 from the field. On a slate that didn’t carry many ceiling games, DeRozan was a phenomenal piece for those that chose to roster him.
Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets (1x)
The chalky base multiplier player of the slate, Jokic had an exceptional game, posting 21 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in a team-high 37 minutes. While he didn’t break the slate, he did enough at his ownership to help those that rostered him, though another center on the slate may have proven to be an elite pivot (more to come shortly).
Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves (1.1x)
With Russell dishing out 10 assists as previously mentioned, it was Towns who was one of the key drivers from a scoring standpoint, dropping 26 points while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and a trio of steals. With his all-around effort and the 1.1x multiplier, he was an elite pivot off the chalkier Nikola Jokic and ended up being the better option in hindsight.
