The first games of the ALDS are over, and it’s time to look at how it played out on SuperDraft. There were some big-time moments and players from both games. Let’s start with the players I had my eye on most for DFS.

Pitchers

I got off to a great start with Lance McCullers Jr. in Game 1 against the White Sox. He was the highest-scoring pitcher of the slate with 36.15 fantasy points after allowing no runs and 4 hits in just under 7 innings. Unfortunately, I also picked the worst pitcher of the slate with Eduardo Rodriguez’ -0.92 fantasy points. He got off to a bad start, walking the first batter and giving up two earned runs in the first inning while throwing 23 pitched. In total Rodriguez only pitched 1.2 innings and recorded just one strikeout. I do believe he could have put together a solid day if Alex Cora had given him the chance.

Hitters

Hitters also got off to a great start as the Astros stack really came through against Lance Lynn and the White Sox, scoring six runs, the most on the slate. I highlighted Alex Bregman and Michael Brantley specifically. Both put up double-digit fantasy points, with 10.13 and 16.50 respectively. The pair combined for 3 hits in 8 at-bats with 3 RBIs and a run scored. Yordan Alvarez was the best of my Astros stack with 31.25 fantasy points thanks to a double and a home run. Unfortunately, Bobby Dalbec was unable to score any points, his second straight game with a zero. He did hit two absolute lasers (both 98mph off the bat) against Shane McClanahan.

Slate overview

What started as a great day has faded into a distant memory. I was sitting in first place on SuperDraft when the Astros game ended. But Rodriguez’ struggles had me falling down the leaderboard fast. Managers having shorter leashes in the playoffs certainly did not help Rodriguez but the Rays were able to jump on him early. The numbers didn’t show up for Dalbec, he got very unlucky hitting two really hard balls that resulted in outs. Playoff Randy Arozarena showed up all over the field, scoring 50.35 points thanks to his 1.95x mulitplier. I’ll see you next Thursday for the NLDS.
