The second weekend of college football blew our expectations out of the water. A relatively weak early-season slate still featured several top-25 upsets. And our SuperDraft rosters were led by top stars around the country.
The Studs
Oregon’s upset of Ohio State was a season-changing outcome. It also featured excellent DFS performances by CJ Verdell, CJ Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Chris Olave. Verdell was second amongst all rushers in scoring, proving to be an unlikely hero for lineups.
Having any one of the stars in your SuperDraft lineup this week would’ve put you in prime position to win.
Another set of playmakers we were predicting big games for came through. Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford totaled 296 yards and two scores. Star receiver Jahar Dotson nabbed a touchdown to go with 65 yards.
Other top performers who put their name on the SuperDraft map were Kentucky running back Chris Rodriguez and Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong. Rodriguez stole the show against Missouri, racking up over 200 yards and 4 total touchdowns. His ability to make defenders miss in the open field makes him someone to consider playing every week from here out.
Armstrong helped Virginia blow out Illinois with over 400 passing yards and five touchdowns. Few expected Virginia to boast a powerful offense this year but the Cavaliers may be a sleeping giant for us to feature in weekly lineups if they can replicate this explosiveness.
The Duds
Some of our picks weren’t as fortunate. Texas A&M stars Isaiah Spiller, Devon Achaine, and Ainias Smith were non-factors against Colorado. The Buffaloes somehow slowed an offense full of future NFL studs in an ugly 10-7 battle.
Notre Dame’s comeback win against Toledo was shocking in itself as the Irish struggled against a MAC foe. Quarterback Jack Coan was respectable in his stat line but was clearly limited by a dislocated finger. He was the best play from a disappointing performance by the team but gave a decent return despite the injury.
What Happened Here?
One of the strangest games was Pittsburgh at Tennessee. The Volunteers rotated their quarterbacks in a desperate attempt to give the offense life but instead produced few fantasy-relevant playmakers. We bought into Jabari Small, but he received only eight carries despite getting a touchdown.
The Panthers also struggled to give value to any SuperDraft plays. Kenny Pickett was a productive passer for his value, but otherwise, the playmaker group lacked big numbers. The chances of no dominant performers coming from a game with 75 total points are next to zero.

Overall, this was a crazy and unpredictable Week 2 of college football. Hopefully, your SuperDraft roster took advantage of the randomness that occurred on Saturday. As we near the end of the first month of football, we’ll know the trends and tendencies of each team more.
