Week 3 of the college football season kicks off Friday night and gets into gear with a full slate on Saturday. Last week brought excitement, and as importantly, gave us new information to utilize when building our SuperDraft lineups.
Quarter Back
At quarterback, the best value on the board is Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder (1.25X score multiplier). Ridder creates big plays as a passer and can scramble for scores with decent speed. His matchup against Indiana should force the Bearcats to go all-out as they look for a statement win, and the Hoosiers’ defense is vulnerable to big plays.
We’re also looking at Michigan State’s Payton Thorne (1.55X) as a superflex or quarterback option. We gain a huge multiplier for the position, and Thorne has quietly put together a great start to the year. I expect Michigan State to replicate Alabama’s play-action-heavy approach against Miami and to find success.
Running Back
We have an array of options at running back. I love Max Borghi’s (1.2X) value against USC. Fresh off firing Clay Helton, the Trojans lack discipline and consistency. Borghi is a terror for those defenses that don’t pay attention to detail, and he can carve them up as a rusher and receiver.
Without question, Jarek Broussard (1.45X) of Colorado has the best opportunity to change the outcome of your contest. Broussard has averaged almost 5.6 yards per carry throughout his two years in Boulder, and the Gophers’ defense is allowing 5.4 yards per carry this season. That means Broussard, along with his massive multiplier, is a must-play.
Wide Receivers
The receiving positions are stacked. We have to select as many as four on a deep slate. Balancing premier talent with a great multiplier is a tough challenge.
Household names Garrett Wilson (1.35X) and David Bell (1.1X) are stars for a reason. With Wilson and the Ohio State offense set to play Tulsa, the Buckeye is virtually a must-play as he looks to help his team avenge a bad home loss to Oregon. Bell, facing Notre Dame, has the opportunity to cement himself as a premier playmaker on a grand stage, and I won’t bet against him putting up big numbers.
Honorable Mentions
My other two favorite receiver plays are Jaquarii Roberson (1.3X) of Wake Forest, facing Florida State, and Travell Harris (1.55X) of Washington State. Each is projected to get volume against premier opponents, and I want in on every high-scoring game possible. Plus, we’re getting huge multipliers to roll the dice on lesser-known names.
Review
Overall, Week 3 has premier matchups between Alabama at Florida and Auburn at Penn State, and a slew of interesting other games that go beyond the rankings.
As always, we have you covered for every slate, every weekend. We’ll continue to project the top matchups and producers across the nation to help you profit in your SuperDraft contests.
