Remember me? I’m the guy who gave you the top-three scoring wide receivers of Super Wild Card Weekend. If you don’t want to listen to me, that’s fine – most of my exes will be right there with you. BUT, if you want to make some cash you would be foolish not to follow my lead.
Start Cam Akers 1.45X
The Packers have been pretty good against opposing backfields for most of the season for one MASSIVE reason – they are usually playing with a lead. Now I’m sure that Aaron Rodgers will still look for his top target in Adams in this game, but Jalen Ramsey poses a problem. If they want to run the ball with Aaron Jones, even an injured Aaron Donald in the middle can mitigate that threat.
Wow…three Aarons are playing in this game…all on the field at the same time…I can already see the ‘tasteful’ graphics being made.
I’m getting off-topic – the Rams defense will undoubtedly keep them in this game and give them a chance to stick with their backfield, something that the Packers have struggled with in their three losses this season.
- Week 6 @ TB: 170 total yards, two touchdowns allowed
- Week 8 vs. MIN: 236 total yards, four touchdowns allowed
- Week 11 @ IND: 189 total yards allowed
If the Rams can neutralize the potent Packer offense, they have a chance at winning this game on the ground with the rookie Akers leading the way. He is coming off a stellar performance after gashing the Seahawks defense for 176 total yards, one score and over 38 FPTS when you factor in his multiplier.
Fade Mike Evans 1.3X
The beef between Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore has been well documented over the years that includes jawing and helmets being torn off. It seems like Big Mike has been on the losing end of the results more often than not.
Well, these two will match up again this weekend and I can’t imagine Evans will be a focal point of the Bucs’ offense given his recent track record against Lattimore. In Evans’ two games against NO this season, he has totaled 10 targets, five receptions, 66 yards and one touchdown – a two yarder that was his only catch of the game.
With Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown and a stable of tight ends at Tom Brady’s disposal, I would expect the GOAT to look away from Evans this weekend on plays that he draws Lattimore’s attention.
Gut Play of the weekend: Antonio Brown 1.55X
Similarly to my decision to play JuJu over Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson last weekend, I want Mr. Big Chest because of his value. Where Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are at 1.3X and 1.35X respectively, you get a little extra juice with Brown’s 1.55X.
The aforementioned Evans & Lattimore matchup plays into this a bit where Brown has been running out of the slot A LOT recently and will presumably see less coverage than both Evans and Godwin given their recent track records. If you’re looking for numbers to back this up go somewhere else – this is a gut play – the type of plays MEN make with their above average guts that may or may not be related to eating red meat and beer like a MAN.
He has grabbed five touchdowns in his last four games though, I’ll take those numbers at 1.55X any day of the week. Do you think you’re more of a man than I am? Prove it in the comments section. Nerds.
