Every week I’ll be offering up my DFS picks on SuperDraft, and we’ll follow that up the next day with a look back on how the picks turned out and what we can learn from the results.

In this article, I’ll be recapping what happened Tuesday and reviewing how the picks and plays did. It was a short three-game slate, so let’s take a look at how we did.

Recap

James Harden, Brooklyn Nets

The Nets narrowly won in Dallas, using a 27-13 fourth quarter to finish off the comeback. Harden was fantastic, continuing to receive a lot of minutes from coach Steve Nash. He only took 13 shots in his 42 minutes but was plenty productive. Harden finished with 23 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds. His only blemish was his five turnovers. This is something that’s not unexpected for a player with that many minutes with a high usage percentage. On the short slate with many popular plays going sideways, Harden was a strong asset to rosters Tuesday.

Alec Burks, New York Knicks

Coach Tom Thibodeau’s big roster change that was rumored for the last 36 hours turned out to be slotting in Nerlens Noel for Mitchell Robinson at center. With that, Burks continued playing big minutes at point guard for New York Tuesday. He didn’t crush your lineup, recording 18 points, five assists and four rebounds, but his upside was capped by the resurgence of RJ Barrett. The Knicks were led in minutes, shot attempts and scoring by Barrett, something that had only occurred once previously (Oct. 30 against the Pelicans) this season. Managers were much happier if they rostered the lower-rostered Barrett compared to Burks on Tuesday’s slate.

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks

It wasn’t a great night for Doncic, all things considered. Sure, he finished with 28 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds, but he added no steals or blocks, and SuperDraft players would have benefitted more from rostering his running mate Kristaps Porzingis at his 1.35x multiplier instead. Doncic didn’t eliminate your chances of a GPP-winning score, but he didn’t quite reach the fantasy point totals we expect on a night-to-night basis and was ultimately a letdown.

LaMarcus Aldridge, Brooklyn Nets

The Nets frontcourt consistency we have seen over the last few weeks is beginning to dissolve. With Nic Claxton back in the fold, Aldridge only saw 23 minutes against the Mavericks. Nash ran Aldridge for 18 first-half minutes, but only gave him five in the second frame. Instead, he opted for a combination of Claxton and James Johnson, who finished with 21 and 25 minutes respectively. Claxton was the big surprise, as he had only played three minutes total since Oct. 25. Aldridge was fine in his 23 minutes, finishing with 15 points, 5 rebounds and an assist, taking 12 shots in the process. But the minutes didn’t allow for the type of production necessary for Aldridge to be optimal, and he was ultimately a disappointment.

Jakob Poeltl, San Antonio Spurs

It was another solid performance from Poeltl, that turned out to be one of the top center performances. Once again eclipsing the 30-minute mark, Poeltl posted 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks, which gave managers a nice score at their center spot. The only more attractive play at the position by the end of the night was Mitchell Robinson, who came off the bench for the Knicks.

Julius Randle, New York Knicks

The upside for the Knicks’ lone All-Star-caliber player was capped Tuesday night. His rebounding chances were limited by a reinvigorated Mitchell Robinson. Robinson put up a monster fantasy game after being benched in favor of Nerlens Noel to begin the night. Randle was also hindered by the rim defense of the Spurs and held to just 15 points on his 12 shots with nine of those points coming from beyond the three-point arc. Boston’s Jayson Tatum would have been a better option at forward when all was said and done and would have replaced Randle’s spot in Tuesday’s article had the news that Jaylen Brown would sit been available at the time of writing.
