Tuesday had five games on the NBA DFS slate and featured some really good basketball.
Three-game slates are typically quiet in the NBA, but Tuesday’s was not. With James Harden and Bruce Brown ruled out merely 60 minutes prior to lock, the slate erupted. Ownership condensed around the Nets value pieces with high multipliers, as Cam Thomas, Patty Mills, David Duke and more picked up lots of steam. Going to overtime against the Raptors, it was impossible to avoid pieces from either side if you wanted a winning lineup.
The other two games — Knicks/Warriors and Suns/Blazers — were quiet from a news front. The Warriors and Knicks game was the only one on the slate that didn’t go to overtime, so there was a load of free fantasy production as well.
Below is a recap of the players provided in our SuperDraft top plays for Tuesday.
The Recap
James Harden, Brooklyn Nets (1x score multiplier)
As noted above, Harden was ruled out an hour prior to lock, as he entered the league’s health and safety protocols. This led to the Nets having to play Kevin Durant, who was initially expected to sit.
Alec Burks, New York Knicks (1.45x)
Burks continued to start for the Knicks — without RJ Barrett, he was tasked with a few additional minutes as well. Derrick Rose stole the thunder in the Knicks’ backcourt, leaving Burks with an inefficient outing en route to 14 points, four assists, and a steal. The volume wasn’t the issue, but shooting under 40% from the field will typically lead to a disappointing out.
Cameron Thomas, Brooklyn Nets (2x)
Thomas was one value play who remained popular after Harden was ruled out. With only eight bodies available for the game, everyone was slated for big minutes. Thomas, for some reason, didn’t get them. With David Duke drawing the start and playing exceptionally well, Steve Nash scaled back on Thomas’ minutes. Because of this, he finished with only 13.5 SuperDraft points … after his 2x multiplier. There was not a bigger bust on the slate than Thomas. The only saving grace was his popularity among the field.
Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors (1.3x)
Siakam was another popular piece from this game given his recent production and 1.3x multiplier. Finishing with 25 points, six rebounds and two assists in the overtime loss, Siakam did everything his managers had hoped for, but he was too popular to be a stone-cold difference maker in your lineup.
Kevin Knox, New York Knicks (2x)
Knox was slated to be one of the more popular value options on the slate before all the Brooklyn value opened up. With RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin in the health and safety protocols, Knox was once again slated for more minutes. He saw 20 minutes off the bench, but only took four shots, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds. While he didn’t do what managers had hoped, he outscored the chalkier 2x play in Cam Thomas, making him a successful pivot.
Deandre Ayton, Phoenix Suns (1.3x)
Ayton returned to the Suns’ lineup with a bang Tuesday, ravaging the Portland interior for four quarters and the extra period. He posted a massive 28-point, 13-rebound double-double with a pair of steals to lead to 65.33 SuperDraft points after his multiplier. He was exceptional, to say the least.
