The Week 2 SuperDraft slate is in the books and now we’re going to review our plays. While some games went with the script, others did not. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stack went off once again but Atlanta was able to do their part. The duo of Russell Wilson and Tyler Lockett continued but Derrick Henry showed up and showed out. Now let’s review our plays from the Sunday Slate.
Quarterbacks
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (1.15x)
The Los Angeles Chargers and Dallas Cowboys game weren’t a follow up to the Thursday Night Game of the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. While Herbert threw for 337 passing yards, he matched his one touchdown with an interception. He only registered 16.38 fantasy points, cutting his Week 1 points in half but in a better match-up. It was disappointing for the young quarterback but he’ll be able to pass back.
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (1.3x)
Even as a San Francisco 49ers fan, I thought Jalen Hurts was going to destroy their defense. Now, Hurts was still able to rack up some good fantasy points as he went for 28.43. He had no passing touchdowns as the 49ers kept him to 190 passing yards, but he ran for 82 rushing yards with one rushing touchdown.
Running Backs
Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns (1.2x)
We expected the ownership to follow Nick Chubb in the match-up versus the Houston Texans and it did as he came in at 27.5%. If it wasn’t for the one rushing touchdown, Chubb wouldn’t have been that good of a play as he only ran for 95 yards and had one reception for three yards. While the Cleveland Browns were able to secure the victory, we expected more from Nick Chubb.
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (1.45x)
The 100% snaps from Week 1 had a lot of people on Najee Harris plus with his match-up versus the Las Vegas Raiders, it only boosted it as he came in at 29.6%. The rookie had a much better showcase this week as he finished with 24.07 fantasy points. He had a little more success in the run and pass game as he rushed for 38 yards and had 43 receiving yards off of five receptions with one touchdown. While Harris gets settled into this offense even more, he can become a very dangerous weapon for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Wide Receivers
DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles (1.5x)
I expected a lot more from this Philadelphia Eagles offense but the San Francisco 49ers defended them pretty well. DeVonte Smith was held to just two receptions for 16 yards. He only had 3.90 fantasy points on the day and I think we can expect that to not be something that happens very often for the young receiver.
Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals (1.5x)
While it was a slow start for the Cincinnati Bengals, they were able to close the gap but came up short versus the Chicago Bears. Higgins had six receptions for 60 yards while bringing in one for a touchdown. Also on the bright side, Higgins was the most targeted receiver on the field which will just add more confidence to running it back with him in another week.
Tight Ends
Darren Waller, Las Vegas Raiders (1x)
Somehow Darren Waller dropped in targets as Derek Carr only looked his way seven times in their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. For a 1x multiplier player, that is not good. He caught five of the seven targets and only went for 65 yards with no score. Waller finished with just nine fantasy points but I don’t expect that to happen again with this Raiders offense as things seem to be clicking for them.
Juwon Johnson, New Orleans Saints (1.65x)
We went diving in with the tight end bucket and Juwon Johnson was not relevant like the rest of the New Orleans team in Week two versus the Carolina Panthers. Jameis Winston targeted him three times as he brought in just one catch for 23 receiving yards. I am usually a fan of the bigger multiplier for tight ends but this New Orleans Saints offense was kept quiet and in the long run, did not pay off.
